My Hijab, Your Hijab, Our Hijab

I wanted to wear hijab since I was in 2nd grade in elementary school. But at that day, I thought hijab just only covered our hair. So, I went to school wearing hijab with the ordinary uniform (not for hijaber uniform). But, one of my friends who know "what the meaning of hijab is" said to me that I also should covered my arms and legs! And after that I really really ashamed with myself and didn't want to wear hijab anymore coz I really didn't know the meaning of hijab.

I've worn hijab since 2004 (with serious intension and the little knowledge about hijab). It means I've already wore it almost 8 year! Wow!! And Alhamdulillah I still istiqamah with my decision and always do (InsyAllah).

This morning, I read my Facebook friend's status about hijab fashion. And I thought, she was true! We all know that, this day, was so many hijab trends. You can wear your hijab with fashion. But, hey...hijab is not a trend! Kita boleh aja menggabungkan hijab dengan trend yg ada sekarang, tapi ingat! Apa sebenarnya tujuan kita berhijab?!

"HIJAB IS NOT A TREND, BECAUSE HIJAB DOESN'T CHANGE. AND TRENDS ARE CHANGING EVERY TIME"

I remember when the day I decided to wear hijab. I didn't know how to fold the jilbab neatly so that it doesn't move. It was a challenge I thought. I always learnt and learnt how to lilit and fold the jilbab nicely. And since my "new appearance" I also tried to change my attitude, until now I'm still trying to change my attitude to be better (I hope I can!)

Anyway, the creations for using hijab are so many! even some of them called "Hijab Fashion". Honestly, I love fashion! And I myself as a woman know and completely understand the need to looking good as a (young) hijaber because dressing up and being covered from head to toe is not as easy as who those choose not to be covered. Every women wants to look good in front of others, even guys do! (iyakan?! hehe)

Sometimes I used to make statements "Who says Muslim woman can't dress up? Who says women with hijab are old school? Who says women with hijab can't be fashionable?"
But now I feel like slapping myself! Because I should say "I wear hijab, I covered myself because I'm a Muslim!" and I should respect the hijab for what it represents and not make it seems like just an accessory  on my head. It's okay if you want to dress up, use make up, and be fashionable, but REMEMBER the purpose of hijab is to cover our aurat and wearing it makes it obvious to everyone that we are Muslim.

In my opinion, it's okay to look good, it's okay to be a Muslim model, it's okay to be fashionable. Fashion is fun to follow, I also love fashion! Yes, I always do love fashion! But don't make us forget about "the meaning of hijab". Keep focus on our purpose of hijab as a Muslim. *Slap myself really really hard!*

What will happen that other girls or women who not yet wearing hijab "terjebak" with all this problems and influenced by it?? Maybe they think hijab is a trend. One day they wear hijab but one day they take off their hijab. It's so sad to see them to be like that! And how about other girls or women who wear hijab thinking that looking good and being fashionable are more important than improving or learning?!
I really worry that they spend their energy on being beautiful, become more materialistic and so obsessed with the fashion.
Remember the fact that whatever were given naturally, are blessings from Allah SWT. *Slap myself again!*

Mau tampil cantik, boleh. Tapi jangan sampai merepotkan dan menyakiti diri sendiri. Gak pake make up aja ngerasa ada yang kurang, ato gak pake high heels langsung gak pede, bahkan kemana-mana jilbab harus ber-style! kalo gak di style bakal ngerasa kuno!
Hey...ini udah menjurus ke Riya! You do or use something supaya orang lain kagum sama kalian! And you know Riya is one of the characteristics that Allah SWT hate.

From all of this, aku juga masih belum sempurna dalam berhijab. But I always try to be "perfect" as a hijabers. I always try to cover what need to be covered. I always improve and learn all the things! I always do!

And I apologize deeply if in this post I offended anyone. I don't mean it. It's not my intention to attack anyone (directly or indirectly). It's just my opinion, my observations and my experiences.

Here are some friendly reminders to all of us:

(QS An Nuur:31)

"JADILAH SEORANG MUSLIM YANG SALING MENGINGATKAN"

Salam.

PS : For those of you who says I'm "sok suci" or "Talk less do more" or something like that. It's okay. It's your opinion. But one thing, I always try to improve my appearance to be better, always do! and change it not because of anyone else. I change it just to Allah SWT to see, just because of Him. :-)
